2001.  Aidspan.  When the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria was established, a New York-based entrepreneur with skills in statistical analysis, information technology and journalism capitalized his ambition to become the Fund’s seminal independent watchdog and established Aidspan. He hired me to help him realize that ambition with strategic planning and landscaping of comparable policy advocacy initiatives. Aidspan’s first output was The Global Fund Observer, a frequently published news source on a range of Global Fund activities from operations to governance. GFO now has prodigious subscription base, the vast majority located in the developing world. Aidspan quickly became an indispensable resource for a broad range of Global Fund stakeholders, from policy makers seeking guidance on funding the Fund to grass roots organizations in resource poor settings seeking access to the Fund’s considerable resources.
